This is just a quick and easy code snippet you can use to provide a link to the post author’s archive page; making that archive page would be another day’s topic but most themes will already handle this by default so no need to worry about that right now.

Jumping right in, here’s the code:

<php if ( is_single() ) {

	$wpfa_author_link_url = get_author_posts_url( get_the_author_meta( 'ID' ) );
	$wpfa_author_link     = '<a href="' . $wpfa_author_link_url . '">' . get_the_author_meta( 'nickname' ) . '</a>'; ?>

	<div id="wpfa_author_link">
		<?php printf( '%1$s %2$s', __( '... other posts by', 'wpfirstaid' ), $wpfa_author_link ); ?>

<?php } ?>

What did we do?

  1. We started by checking if we were displaying a single view.
  2. We then grabbed the author’s archive URL based on the post author’s ID.
  3. We built a standard HTML anchor tag using the author’s “nickname” for the link’s text.
  4. We then wrapped it in a unique div tag, added a bit of non-linked text and ensured it was i18n compatible.

All done … enjoy!
